I found this on www.inspirationgreen.com it's The Bottle Chapel at Airlie Gardens, North Carolina a tribute to Minnie Evans...AND I thought I was into bottles! I love this idea, and boy if I had the time and place I would venture into making something architectural with reckless abandon! It a beautiful inspirational website and worth a visit.
Treehouses, in my opinion are in themselves a sacred space! They take you to another place. I am obsessed with treehouses, and while on the internet I stumbled upon this treehouse sanctuary in Bali! Does it get any better than that?
There is a wonderful store in Laguna Beach called Areo. There, you can find so many items for your home ranging from small trinkets to lovely large pieces of furniture that are mostly from Asia. Dave and Kevin, Areo's owners are always on the hunt for the unusual and profound. They frequently feature trunk shows for jewelers and other artisans that are unique.
This photo is one of the altars they have featured in the store. The hanging metal stars above create mystery. I would love to own this for my own collection!
Light and bright, soft and lovely. Hearts, shells, crystals, vintage findings, mandalas, and crosses...all are used to create things that are lovely and pretty.
10 years ago I had the opportunity to travel to Bali. I went with a couple, that are dear friends of mine. It was after my dad had passed. Bali is a lovely place and the island itself is sanctuary for me. Everywhere there is place for reflection. This is a photo of floating rose petals in a large water vessel. This type of display of flowers and other is prevalent throughout Bali. Everywhere you walk, in every doorway and street there are offerings of peace.
A place of focus can include anything that brings a form of serenity to your being. For my mother, who was raised Catholic, it is the statues that have been handed down through the generations. They remind her of her own strength, wisdom, and hope. My mother is also an artist, and her living altar is creative expression reflecting her ancestry and art. It is a form of creating vision and beauty in her life.
