The last several days I have been working on a couple of pieces. Both were inspired by nature and light.
I had started the piece (the one in the middle of the photo) several weeks ago but hadn't been inspired to finish it. However, monday morning I awoke to my first snow in Idaho, where I now live. Using the clear vintage decanter to display the crystal mandala, I am reminded of the snowflakes and frost. The morning light coming through the now barren trees allowed the frost to sparkle on the ground. The beginning of winter is here. Once again, inspired by nature I was able to finish the mandala I call "First Frost".
Yesterday, I was working with the blue crystals....they are so beautiful and fun....holding the crystals against several bottles trying to decide what bottle would best compliment the crystals, I settled on a empty tequilla bottle. I brought this bottle back with me from Mexico this past summer. I loved the shape and design of the bottle. Actually, my boyfriend and I shared the tequilla that was in this bottle with friends while sitting on the beach in Mex. It was warm and the ocean was filled with the reflection of sunlight dancing on the waves. I continued to work on this altered bottle until late last night.
Then.... last night, when I fell asleep I had the most wonderful dream. I was peering from a stone arched window that was very close to the ocean. I could see people through the window walking and playing in the water. The bright blues of the ocean....the sparkling sunlight was reflecting on the water. When I woke up and continued working on this bottle, I thought how this mandala inspired this wonderful dream of the ocean. I decided to add the smaller clear crystals around the blue crystals representing the light dancing on the water. I called this mandala "Blue Reflections".
When these altered bottles have sunlight coming through them, light reflects in all directions making rainbows.... and light dance.
